Emmett's Classic Car Show - 5/4/25

The weather looked good today so we headed to Emmett’s Classic Car Show on Route 2 in North Stonington. This was a first-time event and it was very well done. We were glad to see some friends after the long winter and enjoyed the complimentary hot dogs, drinks and snacks. Emmett did a great job setting this up and we think everyone had a good time. Hope they do this again in the future!

Bozrah Moose Lodge Cruise Night - 5/7/25

After two days of gloom and almost 4 inches of rain it was a small but intimate crowd at the first Bozrah Moose Lodge Cruise Night of 2025. The field was dry, the hot dogs were hot, the drinks were cold, and we had a good time as always!

98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night- 5/12/25

We had picture-perfect weather tonight for the first 98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night of 2025. And we had a solid turnout of cars, trucks, motorcycles and spectators taking advantage of the beautiful weather. We know it’s New England but let’s hope this continues for the entire summer!

Cruise Night at Flemings Field - 5/13/25

(Note – This is a continuation of the original ‘Cruise Nights at Village Pizza’ but since Village Pizza was sold, it’s now called Flemings Field.) The nice weather held up fine for the first Dream Machine Classics Cruise Night of 2025 at Flemings Field in Preston. A lot of cars and trucks come out and we all enjoyed food from Wicked Weiners, drinks from Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee and best of all, ice cream from Ra Ra’s. It was a great combination and we think everyone had a good time tonight.

Hank's Dairy Bar Car Cruise on the Lawn - 5/13/25

It’s always tough for us when Hank’s rain date is the same as the Dream Machine Classics cruise but fortunately there are plenty of cars for both events and we split our photography duties accordingly. About 40 or 50 cars and trucks came through Hank’s tonight and we heard everyone there had a good night too. We want to thank Lucien for the great photos and let’s hope both events run on their original scheduled dates for the rest of the summer!

Southeastern Connecticut Mustang Club Cruise Night - 5/17/25

Well, we certainly made the right decision by holding our cruise night tonight; despite the iffy forecast the weather couldn’t have been better. We did get more cars and trucks than we expected and we think everyone had a good time. We want to thank everyone who came out to join us and a big thanks to the winner of the 50/50 who donated it back to the club for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center!

98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night- 5/19/25

It was clear but very windy at the 98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night tonight. We had a respectable number of cars, trucks and motorcycles come out but many left early because of the wind. We had several local members of the Connecticut Triumph Register join us for a meet-and-greet tonight and it was great to see some British beauties at the cruise. Remember, there is no cruise night next Monday on Memorial Day – we’re looking forward to seeing everyone back here on June 2nd!

Holy New Martyrs Classic Car & Truck Show - 5/24/25

After Thursday’s Nor’easter and the cold winds this week we headed to the Classic Car & Truck Show at the Holy New Martyrs Orthodox Church in Norwich to check out the scene. We also enjoyed their great food and baked goods, some of which made its way home with us! Congrats to our friends from Dream Machines Classics who won trophies in three classes. Winning photos are annotated.

98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night - 6/2/25
Wow! With some really nice weather and the holiday weekend passed, there was a lot of action at the 98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night tonight. It was great to see the lots filled with cars and also to see so many friends we hadn’t seen since last summer. Let’s hope this is the beginning of a sunny summer season!

Douglas Manor Cruise Night - 6/5/25
Different schedules don’t always mesh so we’re a day late posting this. A big shout-out to Lucien, who made the trip to the Douglas Manor cruise night in Windham yesterday and took a lot of great photos. It was a very warm night and the free ice cream was appreciated by the residents as well as the cruisers who came out for them!

98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night - 6/9/25
Although the radar was clear, Mother Nature had other ideas about the Ocean Beach Cruise Night tonight. First, it was just cold and windy. We were managing that OK with sweatshirts and jackets. Next was a little fine drizzle, no big deal. Then the HEAVY drizzle started and that was all she wrote. With the wind, even umbrellas were no help. After most everyone left we wrapped up at 6 PM with no awards but hoping next Monday will be better.

Bozrah Moose Lodge Cruise Night - 6/11/25
Finally a nice night with NO RAIN! Our photographer says this is one of his favorite cruise nights. There’s always a great group of enthusiasts, enough different cars and trucks to make it interesting, good music and plenty of food, drink, and camaraderie. And, as you can see, tonight was no exception!

Central Baptist Church Father's Day Car Show - 6/15/25
It was cloudy and cool but very nice for the annual Father’s Day Car Show at the Central Baptist Church in Westerly, Rhode Island. Many beautiful cars and trucks (over 80 by our count) filled the lot and many local folks came out to see them. We all enjoyed the music, burgers, hot dogs, cold drinks, and ice cream. It’s always a special Father’s Day at this show and it’s one of our favorites. A big thanks to Reverend Cal Lord and all the folks from the church who help put this on!

Last week they got the forecast wrong and it rained, this week they got it wrong and it was nice. We guess it all evens out in the end and we’re glad tonight it was in our favor. We’re still waiting for ‘real summer’ but it’s bound to come sooner or later. We hope to see everyone here when it does!

Mohegan Sun Employee Car Show - 6/19/25

In conjunction with Juneteenth, Mohegan Sun held their annual Employee Car Show on the Sun Patio tonight. Our intrepid photographer was honored to help judge the show along with three other local enthusiasts. From Coca-Cola the grand prize for Best in Show was 4 tickets to August’s NASCAR Coca-Cola 400 at Daytona including round-trip airfare and $2,000 cash for hotels, food, etc. There were countless giveaways, free food and drink, a DJ spinning tunes, karaoke, and a raucous good time for all! The photos are annotated and congratulations to our friend and fellow cruiser Kathy who’s 1949 Chevy Pickup was judged ‘Best in Show’ tonight!

The ‘curse’ is finally broken! After about 3 months of rainy Saturdays we finally had a beautiful summer night for our second SCMC cruise night of 2025. We had about 50 cars and trucks join us tonight and we hope everyone had as much fun as we did. We did our raffles near the end of the cruise for a change and that seemed to work out well. And, best of all, our 50/50 winner donated part of her winnings back the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. We want to thank everyone who joined us tonight and let’s hope we have the same weather for next month’s cruise!

Central Auto Group's Car Show - 6/22/25

We woke up to rain and wet roads here in Montville but some folks found it dry and headed to Central Auto Group’s Annual Car Show in Plainfield this morning. It was a rather small turnout of mostly late-models and it was very warm with very little shade. Our thanks go out to Lucien who braved the heat and humidity to take these photos!

We always remember the old axiom “It’s always cooler at the beach”. It was 92 degrees when we left Montville for the cruise but only 84 with a nice breeze at Ocean Beach. The beach was packed and everyone enjoyed the beautiful cars, trucks and motorcycles that came to the cruise. We waited 7 weeks for ‘summer’ and tonight it was finally here!

Sprague Rod & Gun Club Cruise - 6/29/25

Today was by far the biggest cruise yet at the Sprague Rod & Gun Club. Lots of folks took advantage of the nice weather and as always the food was great. We enjoyed the shade of the big oak tree and we saw fellow enthusiasts we hadn’t seen since last year. And a big thanks to all the hard working volunteers who keep this event going. All in all it was a great day!

98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night - 6/30/25

Another good turnout at the beach tonight as it was at least 10 degrees cooler than inland and with a nice sea breeze too. At one point we thought we should have brought a sweatshirt! Lots of folks came out to enjoy the cruise, the rides, and the ice cream. We’ll be here again next Monday (after the holiday weekend) so come on down and enjoy the “Prettiest place in New London”. (Speedbowl Kurt quote)

98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night - 7/7/25
The weather turned out to be decent for tonight’s 98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night but the threat of pop-up showers probably kept some folks away. As always, there was a nice sea breeze and those that came out enjoyed the cooler air. We wrapped up and presented the Appreciation Awards a little early as the Old Lyme Town Band was scheduled to play on the bandstand at 7 PM. All in all, it was another great night!

Bozrah Moose Lodge Cruise Night - 7/9/25
It was a really nice evening for the Moose Lodge Cruise Night until it wasn’t. Cars were parked, convertible tops were down, music was playing, and folks were enjoying the evening then wham – the sky opened up! Then a mad scramble to the cars, windows and tops went up and folks got soaked. Some left, most stayed a while, things dried out some but the evening was pretty much over. Mother Nature, we really didn’t need your car wash tonight!

The radar showed lots of storms and rain to our west and north but the sun was shining and it was cool and beautiful at the beach tonight. The threat of rain kept quite a few cars and trucks away but those who are familiar with New London know that the sea breeze often keeps storms away too. Those that did come out tonight had a great time. Let’s hope next Monday is the same but without the threat of rain!

Montville Farmer's Market Cruise Night - 7/15/25

A downpour after lunch and a hot and humid afternoon has been typical this month. But no matter, lots of beautiful cars and trucks came to the Montville Farmer’s Market Cruise Night tonight. We were pleased to see how much this market has grown; there were a lot more vendors and food choices this year. A great job by everyone involved! We had a good time tonight and we think everyone else did too.

Southeastern Connecticut Mustang Club Cruise Night - 7/19/25
We had picture-perfect weather for our July cruise night which brought out a lot of beautiful cars and trucks. We want to thank everyone who joined us tonight as we sold more raffle tickets than at any recent cruise that we remember. The 50/50 winner took home $130 and we raised $166 for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center tonight!

VFW #10004 Cool Summer Car Show - 7/20/25
Today’s Jewett City VFW’s ‘Cool Summer Car Show’ was anything but cool – it was warm and humid all afternoon. But the cars were cool and we hear the food was excellent. We think the forecast had a lessening effect on turnout but those that came out had a really nice time. A big thanks to Lucien for the great photos!

This is the weather we’ve waited all summer for. And when it’s this nice a large number of cars, trucks, and motorcycles come out to enjoy it too. With the Waterford Community Band set to play at 7 PM, we had a lot of folks came down early to enjoy the cruise night with us. We think everyone had a great time tonight. Hoping for more nights like this in the future!

Oakdale Pizza Cruise Night - 7/24/25
In conjunction with the Yesteryear of Oakdale Car Club, Oakdale Pizza held a cruise ngiht tonight. Diane and I were out testing the Miata’s new tires so we stopped to have a Taco Pizza and beer and joined the cruise for a short time. Quickly took a few pics too. It was a nice relaxing night and we had a good time too!

Yes, it was hot and humid inland but don’t forget it’s always cooler at the beach. And tonight it was beautiful with a nice breeze off the cooler water. Lots of cars, trucks and motorcycles came out as well as a lot of folks to enjoy the vehicles on display. Hate to say it but the season here is winding down quickly, only 5 more cruise nights to go. So come on down and join us before it’s too late!

Cruise Night at Flemings Field - 7/29/25
It was hot, miserably hot at the Dream Machines Classic’s make-up cruise night at Fleming’s field. It was 96 degrees when we got there and, even though there was a breeze, it was a 96 degree breeze! But the pizza from Square Peg Pizzeria (soon to open) was great and, of course, Ra Ra’s ice cream was the hit of the night. Looking forward to next month here and hoping it will be a lot cooler than tonight!

98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night - 8/4/25
The weather was picture-perfect so it was a BIG night at Ocean Beach tonight. There were lots of beautiful cars, trucks and motorcycles and even more folks who came out to see them. We all had a great time tonight and are looking forward to next week as the season here winds down!

Hank's Dairy Bar Car Cruise on the Lawn - 8/5/25
We had a good time and great food (of course) at Hank’s Dairy Bar’s Car Cruise on the Lawn. The turnout was light as expected with 3 other cruise nights also happening tonight, all within a few miles of each other. But we saw a lot of cars we’d never seen before, met a lot of enthusiasts we’d never met before, and made some new friends too. And, after all, isn’t that what it’s all about?

98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night - 8/11/25
Once again we’ll say it; it’s always cooler at the beach. And so it was tonight when all the beautiful cars, trucks, motorcycles, and spectators arrived for the 98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night. Sadly, there are only 3 more cruise nights here this season but we’re hoping for 3 more just like tonight. And remember, there’s no cruise night on Labor Day!

Montville Farmer's Market Cruise Night - 8/12/25
It’s been a crazy month and it’s not even half over! We usually split to cover two local events but family obligations got in the way. So we only got to the Montville Farmer’s Market Cruise Night (missing the Fleming’s Field Cruise) tonight. It was hot but not unbearable and the food selection was extensive. We will say the lobster rolls were over the top! Unfortunately, not as many cars as usual came out but there was still plenty to see and do. We had a great time as always and look forward to coming back here for next year’s cruise nights!

Cruise for a Cause Community Fundraiser - 8/16/25
Really nice weather brought out many cars and trucks to the Cruise for a Cause Community Fundraiser in Salem today. As always, there was a great mix of old and new and some different ones too. Great food, good friends, and a beautiful venue made for a really enjoyable day. Now we have to get ready for our own SCMC Cruise Night at the Center of Montville. Hope to see everyone there!

Southeastern Connecticut Mustang Club Cruise Night - 8/16/25
The weather was still perfect after our earlier cruise at the Salem Town Green and we had over 50 cars and trucks at our SCMC Cruise Night tonight. It was an unusual night without Lucien (our club President) because we cannot remember a cruise night when he wasn’t there with us. But thanks to Drew (our club VP) and our friend Richie, we were able to pull it off without a hitch. And our members and friends came through buying lots of raffle tickets and the 50/50 winner donated part of her winnings back to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. We couldn’t be happier with how the night turned out and we hope everyone had as much fun as we did!

Sprague Rod & Gun Club Cruise - 8/17/25
As always, we had a nice relaxing time at the Sprague Rod & Gun Club barbeque and cruise today. The steak sandwiches were great as always and between us we managed to put away quite a few. But it was a sad day for the many Sprague Rod & Gun Club members and friends as their member and friend Judy, who managed all their fundraising and raffles for many years, had suddenly passed away. So instead of the usual cruise day raffles they only held a 50/50 for Judy’s family. Our intrepid photographer bought tickets and one of them was number 69. Of course, he made a crude comment about that being his favorite number! And, as luck would have it, the winning number was number 69. He immediately donated all the winnings back to Judy’s family saying he would hope anyone else would so the same thing. So we send our sincere condolences to the Sprague Rod & Gun family and friends for their loss. We know what it’s like to lose a lvalued member and friend of our cruising community.

98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night - 8/18/25
Tonight it didn’t matter where you were; it was cool, dry, and absolutely beautiful outside. And the best weather of the summer brought out loads of beautiful cars, trucks, and motorcycles to take advantage of it. After 5 PM the main lot filled up with spectators, making this the biggest 98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night of the season. Sadly, there are only 2 more cruise nights here this season but we’re hoping for 2 more just like tonight. And remember, there’s no cruise night on Labor Day!

Bozrah Farmer's Market Cruise Night - 8/22/25

After last month’s rainout, everyone was ready for tonight’s perfect weather! Combined with the ‘Touch-a-Truck’ event, the market was just packed with folks coming and going all evening. So many beautiful cars, so much food and other goodies, it was hard to know where to go next. And best of all, the Norwich Police ‘Ice Cream Patrol’ was handing out ice cream and serving smiles. If you missed this one, you missed one of the best nights out this summer!

Lisbon PTO Car Show & Family Fun Day - 8/23/25

We arrived at the Lisbon PTO Car Show and Lisbon Family Fun Day a little early this morning but they wouldn’t let us in. So we regrouped at Lisbon Meadows Park across the street and waited while even more early birds showed up to join us. When Noon came we all headed back over and parked. We set up under a shady tree and relaxed while the field filled up. At 2 PM they let the public in and the event was under way! We had a good time in the nice weather with lots to see and lots of great food choices too! Live music, good friends, and beautiful cars and trucks; who could ask for more? All in all, another great day as summer is slowly coming to an end!

98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night - 8/25/25

Although there were some light showers inland, it was absolutely beautiful at the beach tonight. And once again, lots of beautiful cars, trucks, and motorcycles came down to take advantage of it. We don’t want to say it for fear of Mother Nature’s wrath, but so far this season has been the best weather for the Monday cruise nights in several years. We hope it will continue for JUST ONE MORE! Remember, there’s NO cruise night on Labor Day and our last cruise night here will be in two weeks, on September 8th. It will be a special night to honor the memory of Speedbowl Kurt with custom trophies to mark the special night. We hope to see everyone there!

Ledyard Rotary Classic Car Cruise - 8/30/25

It felt like a perfect fall day when we met with friends to caravan to the cruise. That brought the cars and trucks out and they just kept coming all morning! About 200 beautiful vehicles on the field, hundreds of spectators, lots of raffles prizes, loads of vendors and a variety of food made it an extra special day. This is one of the bigger events in the area and the Rotary Club volunteers do a good job keeping everything organized. We sure had a great time today and we think everyone else did too!

Ted's IGA Cruise Night - 8/31/25

We sure missed the monthly cruise nights at Ted’s IGA in Hebron this year. But tonight’s special cruise night there made up for that and then some. Perfect weather and more cars and trucks than we’ve ever seen there made it a great night for everyone who came out. The only thing we missed tonight was the rusty old hood on the way in that said “Cruise Night Sunday”!

Hank's Dairy Bar Car Cruise on the Lawn - 9/2/25
We had a good time and great food (of course) at the last Hank’s Dairy Bar Car Cruise on the Lawn of 2025. The turnout was rather light (surprising, with the perfect weather) but we saw cars we’d never seen before and met enthusiasts we’d never met before. All in all it was a great way to end the season here!

Town of Groton Outdoor Market and Car Show - 9/6/25
What a great day at the Town of Groton Outdoor Market and Car Show at Thrive 55 today! About 60 cars and trucks came out to join us and best of all, hundreds of folks came out to see the show. That always makes it enjoyable as we get to chat with them and answer their questions about our cars. All the volunteers from Thrive 55 did a great job organizing this event. We had free coffee and donuts when we arrived, event T-shirts for a donation and great food from Mr. Hot Dog. And we’re glad the weather held up for us, especially after being rained out back in June. All in all, this worked out great for everyone and we’re already looking forward to next year’s show! (Note – today’s trophy winners are annotated in the photos)

98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Night - 9/8/25
It was a bittersweet end to the 98.7 WNLC Ocean Beach Cruise Nights tonight as the 2025 season here came to a close. But what a night it was! Many of the regular attendees came out and, as always, the beach put on a free pasta dinner for the cruisers to thank them for their support. The night continued with merry-go-round rides for all the cruisers and ended with a special tribute to the late Speedbowl Kurt Vibber who ran the cruise nights here for many years. Jim Reed spoke about the early cruise nights which began 27 years ago with only a handful of cars. Clem spoke of his cruise night encounters with Kurt and showed the ‘bowling trophy’ Kurt gave him (hand signed of course) at an early cruise night, the ultimate in recycling. And the special trophies tonight were made by Jeff Mullen and his staff from Action Amusements and were mounted on actual railroad track from the beach’s early days along with a photograph of the original Ocean Beach Railroad. These trophies went to folks who were instrumental in those early years, supporting the Ocean Beach cruise nights right through to the present day. It was a wonderful tribute to Ocean Beach, 27 years of cruise nights, and to Speedbowl Kurt. It couldn’t have been a better night!

Cruise Night at Flemings Field - 9/8/25
We’re sad that this was the last cruise night of the season here at Fleming’s Field. But we must say tonight was a good one. And with Ra Ra’s ice cream, how can you go wrong? We want to give a big thanks to our friends at Dream Machine Classics for keeping the dream alive!

Bozrah Moose Lodge Cruise Night - 9/10/25
What was predicted to be a showery day turned out to be beautiful and it was perfect for the last Bozrah Moose Lodge Cruise Night of the season. We missed some of the regulars here tonight but those who came out had a great time. Always one of our favorites, we’re hoping to be back here again next season. So until then…

Niantic Main Street Car Cruise - 9/12/25
We caravanned down with friends and were parked in back under nice shady trees as we arrived a little early. Then, as we finally sat down, the cars and trucks came rolling in. And they didn’t stop coming all evening. They really pack them in on a very small green but it was very well managed considering there were well over 100 cars and trucks coming and going. We love this event because we see many vehicles we don’t often see anywhere else. And they always have good music, great food and ice cream, and nice awards. And best of all, the whole town and more come out to see our cars and enjoy them with us. It was a perfect night and a great way to end the week and the season here!

8th Annual Charles Toyota Timeless Car Show - 9/8/25
After the original show date was rained out last week, Charles Toyota regrouped and scheduled a rain date for today. We’re glad they did as it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. And plenty of cars and trucks came out to enjoy it with us. Music by The Pom, good food from different vendors, raffle prizes and more made it a great day for everyone. A big thanks to everyone at Charles Toyota who helped make today’s rain date a success!

2nd Annual B&D Autobody Car Show - 09/14/25
This was the second show for us today and luckily, its timing went well with the first show as this one started later in the day. And what a wonderful way to end the day! Loads of cars, trucks and motorcycles came out to enjoy the beautiful weather. There was great food, live music, and lots of camaraderie as always. After a great 1st show here last year we’re glad they decided to do another one. We want to give a big thanks to Bob and all the folks from B&D Autobody who made this another great show for all of us!

Bozrah Farmer's Market Cruise Night - 9/19/25
We had summer-like weather tonight at the Bozrah Farmer’s Market for their last cruise night of 2025. With no recent rain it was a little dusty but that didn’t stop the many cars and trucks from coming in. After all, there aren’t many events after this and who would want to miss out on such a beautiful evening? We ate well, enjoyed the company of friends, and brought home a lot of goodies from the market. What a great way to end the cruise night season here!

Southeastern Connecticut Mustang Club Cruise Night - 9/20/25
We had a spectacular night at our last SCMC Cruise Night of 2025 but we’re sad to see the end of another season here. We had perfect fall weather and a lot of beautiful cars and trucks came out to join us. We managed to give away a lot of donated item and our raffle table was very busy too. Best of all, the winner of the 50/50 donated all but the cost of his tickets back to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and for that we’re especially grateful. A big thanks to everyone who joined us tonight and we hope you had as much fun as we did!

Larry's Family Fun Car Cruise - 9/21/25
Today was by far the biggest cruise here in the 12 years that we’ve been attending. With perfect weather the cars and trucks kept coming and coming all morning and afternoon. We estimate about 300 to 400+ cars but with so many coming and going it’s hard to be accurate so we’ll let the photos tell the story. Race cars, a live band, Dude’s Donuts, The Rolling Tomato, Supreme Hot Dog’s full menu, assorted vendors and a bounce house meant there was something here for everyone. A big thanks to Gary, Sandy, Sally, Jack and all the folks who help make this one of the area’s premier fall car cruises.

Town of Groton Police MADD Car Show - 9/27/25
As always we had a great time at the Town of Groton Police MADD Car Show today. It was a beautiful, almost summer-like day, and lots of folks came out to see the show. We had good food from K’s Cart Too and it was great to see Shelly from WCTY 97.7 also! But we’re sad to say that the season is quickly coming to an end.

Sprague Rod & Gun Club Cruise - 9/28/25
Today was one of the bigger cruises at the Sprague Rod & Gun Club. Unfortunately, it’s the last one here this year. Lots of folks took advantage of the summer-like weather and as always the food was great. We enjoyed the shade of the big oak tree and we saw fellow enthusiasts we hadn’t seen since the last time we were here. We even won some raffle prizes too. And a big thanks to all the hard working volunteers who keep this event going every year as it’s one of our favorites. All in all it was a great day for everyone!
